On the first anniversary of Marin’s passing, we asked everyone who ever had any opportunity to meet Marin to share their stories with us. Thank you, Dani, for allowing us to share it with others.
How did you know Marin: Through metal class
I was not extremely close to Marin, yet she made one of the greatest impacts in my life. During the second week of my freshman year, I switched into metal class. I found a seat across from Marin and began talking to her. I remember how helpful she was when I was adjusting to this class a week late. She loved talking about her family and was so easy to talk to. Later in the week, she introduced me to an exchange student in the class, Mira. Over the next few months, me and Mira became best friends and she ended up living with me for a portion of her year in America. After two years, she continues to be my best friend and is coming back from Denmark to visit soon. I was not that close to Marin, but I am so grateful for her being in my life towards the beginning of school. Not only was she one of the first people I met in a high school class that year, she introduced me to my favorite person in the world. I will forever have so much appreciation for her making me feel so welcome to the school and form more connections. I don’t know if she knew how much of an impact she made in my life, but if it wasn’t for her kindness and inclusion, I may not have gotten to meet Mira.
