On the first anniversary of Marin’s passing, we asked everyone who ever had any opportunity to meet Marin to share their stories with us. Thank you, Aurelia, for allowing us to share it with others.
How did you know Marin: I was friend with her in elementary school, we reconnected my freshman year then reconnected AGAIN my junior year💜 🙂
I was walking to school one day with Marin and her friends and some how we wound up on the topic of golf. Golf soon turned into a discussion about neon golf balls, which from there snowballed into how awful anything neon is. We bounced sarcastic jokes off of one another, and asked would-you-rather questions about neon that had us both cracking up. I remember this conversation because although a simple silly topic, she had me smiling for the rest of the day (and now) thinking about neon. Marin just had that ability- to turn any subject into something incredibly memorable and hilarious. I admire how brave Marin was as well. She could do something or state an opinion and embrace it. she stuck out to me because a lot of teenagers have that ability, but don’t use it.
I have multiple memories of her talking to her friends then turning to me, or someone else she didn’t know super well, and saying, “you should come hang out with us too”. It’s been more then a year and her brilliant statements and acts of kindness like the one above have changed my life. Because of her, I’ve incorporated that energy into my own relationships and my quality of life has been significantly better. By just being around Marin, I’m sure I, along with countless others, have been inspired to open ourselves up and live as vibrantly as she did. Marin left such a beautiful impression on me along with all of Barrington. I will forever continue to think about her, her family, teammates, and friends. Marin was so incredibly loved, it’s hard to put into words.
I think about her everyday.Marin has and continues to change lives.
We love you Marin.
