On the first anniversary of Marin’s passing, we asked everyone who ever had any opportunity to meet Marin to share their stories with us. Thank you, Viviana, for allowing us to share it with others.

How did you know Marin: School/Friends

Although Marin and I weren’t particularly close and didn’t know each other for very long, every interaction I had with her was filled with warmth and her signature bright smile.

On April 9, 2022, I attended the Disco Dance with Marin and a group of people—friends through whom I was lucky enough to meet her. Before the dance, we all went out for dinner at PL8 in Barrington.
I’ve never been a social butterfly and often felt out of place in larger groups, but Marin had a rare gift for making everyone feel loved and included, no matter who they were. She had a way of turning an ordinary evening into something truly special. That night remains a unique and cherished memory for me.
I remember her asking me questions during dinner, creating interesting and fun conversations, making sure I felt included, and inviting me for a sleepover at her house with some of the other girls (though it sadly never happened). At the dance, she took my hands and danced with me, laughing and having a wonderful time.

These moments—both big and small—left an unforgettable mark on me. Marin had a truly beautiful and vibrant soul, filled with life, love, and kindness. I’ll always be grateful for the chance to have known her, even if only for a short time. 💜
